Bill Slaton is a senior consultant specializing in board governance. He is an advocate and facilitator of excellence in board performance.
For 16 years he served as an elected board member of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District which provides electric services to 1.5 million Northern California customers. He served three terms as President of the Board.
Bill also served from 2012 to 2019 as a gubernatorial appointee to the governing board of the California Public Employees Retirement System, the largest public pension fund in America as well as the second-largest provider of health care after the federal government.
Prior to his leadership roles on these boards, he served on two publicly-traded commercial bank boards as well as on various non-profit boards.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Texas. He is married and has two children. He resides with his wife in Northern California.
