1) We help you look objectively at the key trends and factors affecting your organization’s position and help you assess where the opportunities are to achieve greater impact.
This is typically where a trends analysis, or a S.W.O.C. analysis comes in handy, looking at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges facing the organization. As issues are identified, we keep focused on: What data do we have and what does it tell us? How significant is this problem relative to your competitors or peers? What is within your power to control?
2) We help you envision different scenarios for the future and make decisions about the future you want to build toward.
Scenario thinking enables leadership teams to think creatively about different avenues for the organization. What are ways to grow? How could you strengthen your connections to suppliers and customers? What ultimate outcomes are you trying to achieve? What would success look like in one year? In three years? How would you measure success? These are all good questions to grapple with as you envision the future.
3) Once the vision is clear, we help leadership teams translate the vision into decisions about goals, objectives, strategies and resources. This is when strategic thinking becomes a strategic plan.
Once the vision is clear, we facilitate discussions that help our clients define specific goals and objectives, along with strategies for how to achieve those goals and objectives, how resources will be applied to achieve those goals – and how to measure whether the intended outcomes are being achieved. Our team will translate that framework into a clearly written, well-structured strategic plan.
4) We help teams develop action plans – and monitor the ongoing progress toward the plan’s goals.
Once the strategic plan is finalized, action planning should occur within the organization. We can facilitate the development of action plans that tie directly to the strategic plan’s larger goals and objectives. We can also facilitate the ongoing monitoring process, following up on action steps, and determining whether your plan is achieving the intended results. This is often where a strategic planning process falters – and why the commitment to track the plan on an ongoing basis – and adjust course as needed – is so important.
