The current chaotic, post-pandemic environment with its rapidly shifting economic and political conditions has left many organizations looking for ways to reengage their managers and build back their organizational cultures.
At LRI, we are hearing from many organizations who are realizing that many employees, especially at the supervisor and manager level, are feeling isolated and even disconnected. The remote and hybrid work environment has broken some of the normal ties that naturally develop in an office setting. What’s more, organizations are saying they need to invest more in professional development, especially for leaders early in their careers as they pivot to the “new normal.”
Here is what clients say they want for their managers and supervisors:
• Supervisors and managers who feel connected to the mission of the organization and know how to engage their teams to execute on that mission.
• Supervisors and managers who can clearly define roles and expectations and communicate them with empathy.
• Stronger links within and across teams – creating cohesion and esprit de corps.
• Accelerated development of their emerging and standout leaders.
After paying close attention to what we’ve heard, LRI set out to develop a cohort-based program to build leadership skills and increase ties and cohesion across organizations in the public and private sectors. We call this the “Leadership Mastermind Program.”
These six-month/12 session programs are facilitated by experienced leadership coaches from LRI. Each cohort typically consists of 10 to 12 people within an organization who want to advance their leadership and management skills and broaden their knowledge and relationships across the organization. This group meets twice monthly, typically for one to two-hours, to learn new skills and share experiences.
In each session, LRI provides participants with tools and leadership training. Examples of session topics include:
• Working with different communication styles
• Building emotional intelligence
• Managing difficult conversations
• Providing effective feedback
• Managing up,
• Leading change
• The leader as coach
A key element to our Mastermind program is the “Step Back Consulting” process, where participants present a current challenge they are experiencing, then request specific support and guidance from their peers. After a case is presented, the group provides feedback and offers solutions based on their own experiences. The presenter then shares which solutions they find most valuable and why. This creates a supportive, confidential space for participants to grow as leaders.
Participants also receive one-on-one coaching that helps accelerate their professional development.
Participants report an array of benefits including:
• Increasing accountability: Participants commit to professional development goals publicly within the group, which helps ensure that participants stay on track and follow through.
• Accelerating growth: Participants learn new skills and leverage the collective knowledge and experiences of the group to solve challenging situations.
• Building powerful networks: Participants develop deep, meaningful relationships with peers to whom they can turn for help long after the program ends.
We invite you to consider whether Mastermind might be the right format to help your organization take its leadership to the next level. Each Mastermind program can be tailored to fit the individual needs of your organization. Please contact us to learn more.
